‘I felt more in four minutes watching STIFF than I have in most features’  – Harold Ramis

I wanted to make a film about a duel. Two men, guns pointed, one would fall. But it had to be different. I thought about a man and a woman, then a soldier and a nun, until I realised that a face-off between a man and a boy had the tension needed to hoodwink the audience.

As a film it’s the opposite of The Sandman. It tricks you into thinking it’s about something sexual, but it’s really about violence…
